Dr. Murphy is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement. Dr. Murphy graduated with honors from Northern Kentucky University in 2003 where he was four-year letter winner with the Men’s Basketball Team. He went on to graduate from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2008. Dr. Murphy completed his orthopaedic residency training at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor in 2013. During his final year at Michigan, he was honored by being selected to act as the Administrative Chief Resident for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Rather than entering into orthopaedic practice immediately following residency training, Dr. Murphy completed an additional year of fellowship specialty training in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement at the prestigious Rush University in Chicago before joining Reconstructive Orthopaedics in 2014.
During his fellowship Dr. Murphy learned the most current techniques in quadriceps sparing knee replacement, partial knee replacement, muscle sparing anterior hip replacement, Birmingham Hip Resurfacing, as well as complex revision procedures for hip and knee replacement.
Dr. Murphy has additional interests in trauma, fracture care, sports related injuries, general orthopaedics and minimally invasive techniques. He is dedicated to providing the most current treatment strategies that alleviate pain and restore function to his patients to allow return to an active healthy lifestyle.
By utilizing smaller incisions and avoiding cutting muscles, tendons and ligaments, Dr. Murphy’s techniques allows his patients to have shorter hospital stays and allow them to have a faster and less painful recovery.
Dr. Murphy is also now offering stem cell injection treatment to appropriate patients for knee and hip osteoarthritis.
Dr. Murphy is licensed in both Ohio and Kentucky with operating credentials at Mercy Jewish Hospital, Trihealth Evendale Hospital, The Christ Hospital, Bethesda North Hospital, and Mercy Fairfield Hospital. Dr. Murphy evaluates patients in the Montgomery, Fairfield and Lebanon offices.
Dr. Murphy and his wife, Elizabeth, have three children. Elizabeth is a Cincinnati native and Oak Hills High School Athletics Hall Fame Member. When he is not busy helping patients restore motion and getting them back to active healthy lifestyle, Dr. Murphy enjoys spending time with his three children and exercising to maintain his own joint health.
